The latest and most thorough study to find an alternative to Nacl as a road deicer was made in the USA in 1976-79. The Federal Highway Administration, FHWA, is coordinating a long-term program covering the following studies on Calcium Magnesium Acetate (CMA): Production technology; Properties and effects of CMA - Technical and economic evaluation, and environmental evaluation. The report describes the findings and views on CMA that were obtained from the various road managements and research institutes in the USA.
