Currently the Air Force Armament Laboratory (AFATL) is developing an Advanced Tactical Rocket (ATR). The ATR aerodynamic configuration is being designed by the von Karman Gas Dynamics Facility of the Arnold Engineering Development Center for AFATL. The details of the development of the aerodynamic configuration are presented in this report. It contains the results of wind-tunnel tests, a trajectory analysis, and a dispersion analysis. The wind-tunnel tests provided essential data necessary for the trajectory and dispersion investigations. Static-force and moment tests were conducted over a broad range of Mach numbers, Reynolds number, and angle of attack. These test data were used in a six-degree-of-freedom trajectory program to obtain the basic trajectory and dispersion results. Included in the dispersion study are the effects of thrust misalignment, fin misalignment, initial angular disturbances, and crosswinds. (Author)
