In a number of cases the study of mufflers for the exhaust noise of powerful gas turbine units should be carried out on models. In this case, to transfer the results of model tests to real systems, it is necessary to observe certain conditions, both gas-dynamic and acoustic. Gas-dynamic similarity is necessary for correct evaluation of the hydraulic characteristics of mufflers and their effect on the basic parameters of gas turbine units. In view of the absence of information on the characteristics of mufflers which can be used for naval gas turbine units, a systematic study was conducted of various methods of reducing the noise level of naval gas turbine units on models of an exhaust system.
