The purpose of this report is compile information regarding the transmission of sound inside of ducts so that an engineering approach to the solution of the rotational noise problem created by turbofan engines can be taken. The noise problem is not solved by the material presented here, but an explanation of the theoretical background and a starting point for the design and evaluation of experiments are offered. Thus the goal of reducing the community noise caused by airplanes equipped with turbofan engines will be one step closer. (Author)
