This monograph is a comprehensive survey of the influence of our knowledge of wind effects on such aspects of launch vehicle design as aerodynamics, airframe structure, and guidance and control methods (introduced by data indicating the methods of statistical representation of principal wind phenomena). The results show the development of practical methods for use in all stages of design - the examples described are vehicles of the Saturn family, especially the Saturn V 'moon rocket'. (Author)
