A description is given of a project to develop a general utility-type airport with a 3,700' paved runway to accommodate single engine and light twin engine aircraft. It is felt that this facility will adequately meet the immediate aviation requirements of the County, serve the south portion of the City of Richmond, Virginia, and act as a reliever for Byrd Field, the center of the majority of flying activities in the Richmond, Virginia area. There are four subdivisions and various other facilities involving concentrations of the population which would fall within the airport's area of influence in its ultimate configuration involving the operation of turbine powered aircraft. In at least some of these areas mentioned above and individual residences to the northwest and southeast, during jet operations from the ultimate facility, the ambient noise level will be raised above that which it is at present. However, there are no unacceptable adverse alterations on a significant number of people expected from the establishment of a general utility airport on the surrounding environment beyond the existing level.
