Responses received relating to proposed rulemaking action on school bus passenger seat crash protection indicated a need to obtain additional research data using several test variables. A sled test program was conducted for route school bus and activity bus occupant seats using the variables of seat spacing, test velocity, lap belts and no lap belts, differing dummy sizes, and seats from different manufacturers.
