The classification scheme of tractor transmissions is given and multispeed clutch-gear transmissions are discussed, with the T-130 tractor illustrated with kinematic diagrams, tabular data and discussion. Similar data are given for hydromechanical transmissions of several tractors produced in the Western World. Detailed discussion of calculation and plotting of traction characteristics is presented, including starting and acceleration characteristics. Detailed data, diagrams, tables, illustrations and discussion of hydrodynamic torque converters are provided. Similar, shorter presentations are given on the optimum combinations of hydrodynamic torque converter and internal combustion engine characteristics, torque converter working fluids and torque converter cooling systems.
