A combat pilot has to be able to deduce the intentions of pilots in hostile vehicles by inspecting their behavior. Such a skill of plan recognition presumes knowledge about the current situation and the set of possible measures a combatant can take at each situation. One example of a tactical fighter intercept is forward quarter. To be able to specify this and other air combat maneuvers, a temporal logical formalism has been developed which is apt for generation of programs for plan recognition. Furthermore, some general problems in using logics and other formalisms for description of tactical vehicle behavior are discussed.
