The proposed roadway is planned as a controlled access four-lane divided facility with grade separations or interchanges at the major intersections, limited frontage roads, and grade separations at railroad crossings. This route will require only four houses and no businesses to be taken. No other improvements such as fences will be affected. The project will result in a conversion of about 955 acres of land. Of this, approximately 275 acres is now in grassland, approximately 663 acres is cultivated land, and a relatively small area near Happy is sub-divided into small acreages and is mostly undeveloped. The taking of this land will have little or no wildlife habitat value because this land does not sustain much wildlife. Since most of the right of way to be taken is along an existing route and the remaining is in the path of urbanization of Canyon, the right of way which will be required for this project will not have an adverse environmental effect on these surrounding areas.
