This report presents the results ofa study of the operational influences on the field reliability of USAF avionics equipment. The study has permitted identification of factors contributing to reported differences, between the required, predicted, demonstrated and field observed reliability of avionics equipment in currently operational USAF aircraft systems. Techniques have also been developed by which the field reliability can be estimated using engineering data pertaining to the equipment's inherent reliability characteristics and field operational factors.
