In response to a legislative mandate to improve automotive fuel efficiency, NHTSA identified areas to be researched and analyzed to determine the costs, feasibility and impacts on various segments of the population. In all, nine tasks were completed and reported in individual reports. This final report presents a summary of the program and a brief description of the results.
