An analytical study of mode transition in the integral ramjet-rocket class of propulsion system was conducted. A baseline design was selected and used for analysis. The several factors affecting the engine aerothermodynamic performance during mode transition were evaluated. A quantitative evaluation method was established to aid in design of future engines of this class. Specific developmental recommendations are made. (Author)
