Magnetic suspension systems, based on the application of electronically controlled electromagnets, are considered, including transrapid technology. In this system, the distance between a coil and an iron body is measured with a sensor, which transmits this information to a regulator which varies the electromagnet current. The electromagnet is fixed to a vehicle, and the iron body is the rail. As the principle is based on attraction forces, the electromagnets are placed underneath the rails, which also prevents derailing.
