The appropriation provides the funds for the cost of all Marine Corps missions, functions, activities and facilities except for those costs related to: procurement of major items of equipment and ammunition, military personnel pay and allowances of the regular and the reserve establishments, military family housing, operation and maintenance of the Marine Corps Reserve, and those functions supported by Navy sponsored appropriations. The funds contained in the appropriation are intended primarily for the support of the Fleet Marine Forces. The primary Marine Corps objective is to train and maintain the Fleet Marine Forces at a high level of combat readiness for service with the Fleet, ashore, or for such other duties as the President may direct.
