Orbital activities and operations performed on the ESSA 4 satellite from launch in November 1972 to reentry in April 1974 were described. The spacecraft operated correctly for the 17 months in orbit and experiment data were obtained for 1410 hours in real time at a low speed rate, 312 hours at playback rate, and 179 hours in real time high speed rate. Due to increased power available (albedo, less degradation, etc.) the experiments were not switched on and off according to the original mission plan. Twenty maneuvers were executed instead of the originally planned 9. Tests performed on the battery indicated that the capacity was about 3.4 Ahr at the end of its life.
