This traffic control and landing systems (TRACALS) radar station evaluation report presents data collected from 6-22 Oct 76, to define the capabilities and limitations of the radar approach control (RAPCON) facility at Travis AFB, California. The RAPCON is comprised of the AN/FPN-55 airport surveillance radar (ASR), the AN/TPX-42(A)V Type III air traffic control radar beacon system (ATCRBS), the AN/FPN-16 precision approach radar (PAR), and the associated power systems. The report includes an explanation of the ASR angel and second-time-around clutter problems, descriptions of the useable radar coverage, descriptions of the effects of the special clutter reduction features on radar coverage, descriptions of the ATCRBS coverage and tracking capabilities, of the PAR coverage and tracking capabilities and the analysis of flight and equipment performance data. The capabilities and limitations presented are a guide for expected system performance until there is a modification to or relocation of the equipment or until a significant change occurs in the horizontal profile.
