The Multibus Avionic Architecture Design Study (MAADS) evaluated projected avionic requirements for tactical aircraft of the 1990s and defined an architectural approach and design example suitable for use as the baseline for the Avionic System Integration Demonstrator (ASID) System Definition project. The architectural approach is multi-bus in nature including MIL-STD-1553B bus, a high speed bus, and a video bus. System sizing and timing estimates are provided. Areas for potential future standardization are identified.
