On or about 16 July 1974, the AEROS-B spacecraft will be launched from the Western Test Range (WTR) by a Scout launch vehicle. The AEROS-B is a German satellite project which will be launched by NASA on a reimbursable basis for the German Federal Minister for Research and Technology (BMFT). The scientific objective of AEROS is to measure the main aeronomic parameters of the upper atmosphere and the solar ultraviolet radiation in the wavelength band of main absorption. The AEROS-B spacecraft design, fabrication, integration and test, including all experiments, except one to be provided by NASA, is the responsibility of the GermanGeseIIschaft fur WeHraumfonchung mbh (GfW). NASA is responsible for the Neutral Atmosphere Temperature Experiment to be provided by the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). NASA will provide launching and associated services to the BMFT under the provisions of a contract between NASA and the BMFT. The planned orbital elements for the AEROS-B are: Apogee 900.4 (km), Perigee 230.0 (km), Inclination 96.8 (degrees), and Period 96.0 (minutes). The spacecraft weight is 127.44 Kg.
