Discusses the role of helmets in reducing the severity of motorcycle injuries. Makes the point that 75% of a cyclist's road hazards lie in front of him, thus weakening the argument that helmets are dangerous because of vision restrictions. While acknowledging bikers' complaints that helmets can be inconvenient and expensive, stresses that they can prevent a minor accident from turning into a fatality.
