Information is given on a study, commissioned by the AGARD Flight Mechanics Panel, to review existing data and try to describe a relationship between certain motion system parameters, identified in an earlier AGARD Report (AR-144), and the fidelity of the pilot's perception of flight. Motion system characteristics as a whole are discussed, thus extending AR-144's treatment of motion mechanisms to include motion drive software and other features. Some of the key parameters of AR-144 are then examined in relation to total motion system fidelity. Finally, some proposals are made for a common format data structure with which to summarise research results on motion cues.
