A finite-interval H sub infinity Control problem is posed and solved making use of nonlinear programming algorithms. An important problem in flight control and flying qualities is the approximation of a complex high order System by a low order model. Making use of a certain correlation index, the model reduction problem is solved by selecting the reduced order model matrices which give the best correlation index.
