Historical information on the Federal Fuel Energy Information Program and recent changes recommended for that program is provided. The information sources used in the study are outlined and the objectives are identified. An interpretation of that data that focuses on three subject areas is provided. These areas are: the Federal Fuel Economy Program, the value of fuel efficient technologies and related information in the new vehicle purchasing decision, and use of fuel efficient tires and oils in the aftermarket.
