The biohydrodynamic characteristics of dolphins were investigated to determine the mechanisms used to attain drag reduction and the applicability of these mechanisms to marine vehicle design. The results to date indicate possible drag reduction capabilities in the dolphin. Continued work is recommended in order to obtain definitive answers to unanswered questions raised during the reported investigation.
