The Isoelectric Focusing Experiment (IEF) is a materials processing middeck payload, sponsored by the Microgravity Sciences Division of this office. It will be launched on STS 41-B from the Kennedy Space Center. This will be the first of two planned launches for this payload. The IEF will demonstrate isoelectric focusing techniques in an extended weightless environment, and help determine an optimum equipment configuration for an advanced, recycling isoelectric focusing apparatus for future spaceflight operations. The enclosed Mission Operation Report contains details related to the IEF experiment. Details regarding the STS 41-B flight are contained in the STS 41-B Prelaunch Flight Operations Report No. M-989-41-B.
