A general discussion is presented of guided-missile developments, as basis for development of automatic controls, and of the launching of a winged missile for supersonic flight. Principal differences between automatic pilots in conventional aircraft and automatic control in missiles are outlined. A comparison is made of the power sources available for control mechanisms. The characteristics of long-range rocket trajectories in vacuo are given along with a sample problem.
