The project proposes construction to replace portions of existing 2 lane conventional State Routes 86 and 111. Environmental impacts include: Local businesses on existing highways affected by traffic diverted to freeway; Acquisition of right of way requires removal displacement of residents; producing agricultural land required for right of way; air basin and local air quality conditions affected by motor vehicles; changes in ambient noise levels along existing highways and proposed freeway corridor; potential for water pollution and erosion problems; visual impact of freeway; unimproved Indian land required for right of way; relationship of freeway to community planning, development, property values and tax base; encroachment of freeway into wildlife habitat; recreational use of regional desert areas.
