The report deals with an analysis of present bus operations in the Twin Cities area because of a need for immediate action to improve the existing bus transit system and stem the secular decline in transit riding. The report describes the procedures developed in surveying each of the more than 150,000 daily adult revenue passengers using the eight transit systems currently serving the area and also presents the results of the analysis of these survey data. Characteristics of the current bus rider are discussed along with the matrix of travel patterns he follows in his daily journey from origin to destination. (Author)
