The parameters of a rocket capable of velocities of 8 km/sec are determined using simplified equations of motion. Based on the analysis of the variation of weight at launch as a function of the number of stages, four stages are determined to be the optimum number. The relation of the mass of the shell to the optimum propulsion for each stage is computed.
