Vibratory Locomotion is an old unused method of moving over terrain we invented at the Naval Civil Engineering Laboratory over 25 years ago. The patent has expired. We had great hopes for it, but they never materialized. It is being presented here to remind readers it exists in hope that someone will find an application for it. The paper describes some applications, presents a simplified design method for the devices, and discusses the effectiveness of several vibratory locomotion prototypes we built and tested.
