In recent years, electro-hydraulic control systems have been developed for the purpose of realizing high-performance vehicle dynamics. At the same time, the number of these hydraulic control systems being installed in automobiles is rapidly increasing. This has given rise to a requirement for higher response and stability in these systems. To achieve optimal design, it has, therefore, become important to be able to estimate the performance of these systems in the design stage. The paper introduces methods for analyzing the dynamic characteristics of representative hydraulic control system elements, namely, the control valve, pipe line, and cylindrical chokes, and it provides examples of dynamic characteristics analyses of hydraulic control systems. Finally, it explores the present state of dynamic characteristics analyses and forecasts their future direction.
