The policy with respect to noise complaints at Schiphol international airport (Netherlands) is explained. The preferential use of runways, the upkeep of runways, and the intensity of the use of runways are discussed. Night flight, training flights, helicopter flight, and test flights are treated. Starting and takeoff procedures, radar control, and measurements and calculation of noise are outlined. Urban planning problems related to the construction of a new runway are discussed. Noise zones, noise disturbance standards, noise situation calculation and control, noise reduction measures, policy with respect to new buildings, and noise optimization study for the new runway are presented.
