An overview of the concepts for the Hermes navigation and orbital guidance is presented. The whole mission scenario from the launch alignment operations until the landing is described. The navigation system selected and designed for Hermes is presented. Particular emphasis is put on the rendezvous and on the reentry navigation. Attention is paid to the elaboration of the guidance strategies for the orbital maneuvers and for the rendezvous phases. Performances obtained in the frame of the Hermes Phase C1 system studies are presented.
