This specification covers the requirements for the design and construction of a deployable F/A-18 HOTAS Part-Task Trainer. This device shall simulate, to a limited degree as specified herein the crew station of the single place, dual engine F/A-18 aircraft. The device shall consist of a trainee station simulating the F/A-18 cockpit and a visual system display, a trainer operation console (CRT terminal) and a mini computer system. The F/A-18 HOTAS Part-Task Trainer will be utilized aboard a carrier to train Navy/Marine Corps pilots to maintain proficiency in those skills and techniques involved in using the HOTAS system in operation of the F/A-18 aircraft. The trainer shall provide training in air-to-air target intercepts and weapon delivery, air-to-ground weapon delivery, High Speed Anti-Radiation Missile (HARM) system operation, radar operation, FLIR operation, radar warning system operation, and Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) operation.
