The purpose of this project was to promote safety belt use in the US by gaining a better understanding of the effectiveness of current safety belt reminder systems as well as suggesting appropriate improvements. The project examined several aspects of vehicle-based safety belt use technologies. A nationally-representative survey and a series of focus groups with part-time safety belt users was completed along with a literature review.
