The design guide provides criteria and procedures to be used for the design of lift points on a piece of Army equipment, the sling system used to suspend material as an external helicopter load, and the aircraft hard points to which the sling is attached. Hardware components designed in accordance with the criteria and procedures in this text in the three design areas listed above will be compatible with each other and with existing and future helicopters.
