The mission of USTRANSCOM is to provide air, land, and sea transportation for the DoD, both in time of peace and war. As a unified command, USTRANSCOM exercises combatant command and peacetime management over the common-user aspects of the global mobility network, and executes this responsibility via its Transportation Component Commands (TCCs)--the Air Mobility Command (AMC), the Military Sealift Command (MSC), and the Military Traffic Management Command (MTMC). USTRANSCOM ensures this network is capable of rapidly transitioning from peacetime to constingency and wartime operations as required by the National Command Authorities--a readiness demonstrated on a daily basis, as USTRANSCOM forces operate worldwide in direct support of U.S. humanitarian and military operations. The document contains budget estimates for FY 1999.
