The calculation of wave-induced ship hull vibrations by application of the normal mode method and calculation of the vibratory bending moment are discussed. Wave excitation, added mass, and hydrodynamic damping associated with wave-induced ship hull vibrations are described. Calculated results for two Great Lakes bulk carrier models, consisting of two rigid halves, are discussed and compared with measured results.
