Since the launch of the two stage Energiya rocket, with its own weight of more than 2,000 metric tons, and its ability to place into orbit a payload of more than 100 metric tons, a great deal of interest has been paid to the rocket. Some scientists have noted that this event is a qualitatively new stage in the exploitation of outer space. The rocket is described in some detail.
