The contribution of motor vehicle emissions to community-wide air pollution depends on a number of related factors: the extent of community, commercial and industrial sources as compared to vehicle sources; the size of the community and the distribution of these sources; topographical and meteorological factors; and the degree of control exercised for these various sources. The report gives results for different engines and stations in the U.S. Included are emissions from gasoline and diesel engines and photochemical reactions in the atmosphere.
