Space Station Heat Pipe Advanced Radiator Element (SHARE) is a part of NASA's Thermal Energy Management Processes (TEMP) program, supporting the development of various two-phase heat transport systems for use on Space Station or other future space missions. The TEMP program, originally initiated by the Office of Aeronautics and Space Technology (OAST), was structured as three groups of experiments, with each group assigned to a different NASA field center. TEMP-1, a Lewis Research Center (LeRC) project, measured fundamental zero-g fluid dynamics and heat transfer. TEMP-2, a Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) project, is a series of experiments designed to test critical two-phase components and subsystems. TEMP-3, a Johnson Space Center (JSC) project, is a series of experiments to demonstrate performance of the full-scale central heat rejection and heat transport system baselined for Space Station. The SHARE is the first of the JSC TEBIP experiments. The SHARE experiment is also known as the TEMP-3A. Upon the creation of the Office of Space Station (OSS) in October 1984, the management of the SHARE experiment was transferred from OAST to OSS. The SHARE is an attached payload which will be flown on STS-29 with the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite-D/Inertial Upper Stage (TDRS-D/IUS) satellite.
