A brief examination of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) and the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) standards regarding passenger safety restraint systems. The HNTSA's standards are contained in the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and those of the FAA are in the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR). A comparison of the two agencies' regulations and some general recommendations to improve them are included.
