The objective of this task was to identify and assess the main features of automotive computer architectures and electronic interface which could either facilitate or hinder the deployment of in-vehicle safety-related electronics for Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS). The key result sought from the task is a set of engineering assessments that evaluate the status of computer systems and electronic interface standards with regard to the potential for integration of the electronics for IVHS safety-related systems and the electronics for other vehicle systems.
