The conspicuity of military route indications was studied. Conspicuity enhancing by diffuse reflecting and retroreflecting materials was investigated. The indicators were observed from trucks and landrovers moving in convoy. Retroreflecting strips along the sides of the indicators give best results. Encapsulated lens rather than enclosed lens materials are advocated.
