method is described for calibrating airspeed installations on airplanes at transonic and supersonic speeds in vertical-plane maneuvers in which use is made of measurements of normal and longitudinal accelerations and attitude angle. The method involves starting or ending a calibration run near level flight at a speed for which the airspeed calibration is known and hence for which the free-stream static pressure may be determined.
