The report presents various factors which influence friction forces in the interaction between the vehicle and the road surface. Emphasis has been directed towards interpretation of slip curves and how they relate to total vehicle handling. The effect of braking systems, locked wheels, antilock brakes, and suspensions are related to actual vehicle performance data. Likewise, variations in construction and tread depth are evaluated on both wet and dry surfaces. (Author)
