EMAP is a complex and diverse program that requires efficient communications to ensure continuity and consistency in the program and to avoid duplication. The Monitor is a regularly published document intended to provide an efficient and effective tool for EMAP managers to communicate the status and progress of the program to EPA and the scientific community and to transfer technical information to a broad audience. The first edition of the EMAP Monitor contains a feature article on the EMAP Near Coastal Demonstration Project in the Mid Atlantic region preformed in the spring and summer of 1990. It also contains a summary of the current activities of all EMAP components, a listing of recent publication and presentations, and recent and upcoming events.
