The automatized data-communication using telecommunication, is the result of the evolution of telecommunication and informatics. The paper presents an overview of the possible consequences of the advancement of telematics, in particular the development in telecommunication infrastructure upon the spatial pattern of activities and transportation. The problem will be structured by considering the evolution of telecommunication as the introduction of a new transportation system, that affects flows in existing transportation systems and the pattern of economic activities. Possible developments in the telecommunication infrastructure, associated changes in economic activity, and the way they affect transportation and land use will be described, leading to conclusions regarding development in the spatial pattern and transportation.
