This paper is an executive summary of a series of reports describing a longitudinal study of airsickness in a large sample of Naval Flight Officers being trained to perform various nonpilot flight duties prior to fleet assignment. Airsickness data are reported on over 28,000 individual hops flown by approximately 800 students as they progressed through the Basic, Advanced, and Fleet Readiness Squadron phases of their flight training. Topics discussed include: airsickness as a function of phase of training; pipeline differences; individuals with repeated difficulties; predictive laboratory tests; attritions; use of medication; and methods of identifying students with a continuing airsickness problem.
