Two A4D-1 aircraft were used to: (1) measure the structural response of the A4D-1 aircraft to the effects of high-yield nuclear detonations; (2) measure the effects inputs; and (3) correlate the response and input data obtained by this project with the data obtained from the A4D-1 participation in Operation Plumbbob, to define and verify the high-yield (megaton-range) weapon-delivery capability of this aircraft.
